Tonight I and nearly 1000 other people, ventured to the KFC YUM! Center to attend the a Revival! The clear goal of the event was to create a sense of unity among the deputies and bishops as we prepare to discern the the direction the Holy Spirit is calling The Episcopal Church.
I have to admit that today has been somewhat surreal. My day began with a 4:30 ride to the airport and has ended with a message of unity, hope, and love. The Presiding Bishop’s message was clear, “if it’s not about love, it’s not about God”, which seems like such a simple message and the truth is that it seems that way because it is that simple. The revival ended with and invitation to come forward for anointing and prayer while the Revival band sung a very uplifting rendition of “there is a balm in Gilead” which is not only one of the favorite hymns, it is also the perfect message for General Convention. God is love and by and through love healing exists.
Tomorrow the work begins. Committee meetings begin at 7am (which I do not need to attend, though likely will) and our first legislative sessions are tomorrow, they are scheduled to last at least 5 hours, first up are resolutions to change some of the the Rules of Order for the House of Deputies.
So far this has been an exhilarating experience. We began the Revival! by singing “Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Your peace will make us one” and ended it by singing “We are marching in the light of God” The revival was intended to bring us together and then send us out to do the work we are here to do and I think it did it job.

Amazing! So grateful 🙏 you are there 💛 We are praying for y’all! I was able to watch the revival and felt the energy…the Holy Spirit 😳 Be well Blessings and peace Tom H
